Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. When should I seek a developmental assessment for my child?
You may consider a developmental assessment if you notice delays in speech, motor milestones, attention, behaviour, or social interaction compared to age expectations. Not every variation indicates a delay. A structured evaluation helps determine whether reassurance, monitoring, or therapy is appropriate.Early clarity allows informed decisions.
2. Do you provide therapy for conditions like Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, Autism, or developmental delay?
Yes. BabySteps Pune supports children with conditions such as:
- Cerebral Palsy (CP)
- ADHD
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Global developmental delay
- Speech and language delay and more.
Intervention plans are individualised and based on functional assessment rather than diagnosis alone.
3. My child already has a diagnosis. Is another assessment necessary?
Yes. Even when a diagnosis such as CP, ADHD, or Autism is established, a functional developmental assessment helps identify current strengths, therapy priorities, and measurable goals. Diagnosis guides understanding. Assessment guides intervention.
4. What happens during the first visit?
The first appointment includes:
- Detailed developmental history
- Observation of motor, speech, behaviour, and attention patterns
- Structured screening where required
At the end of the session, we discuss findings and recommend next steps clearly. There is no obligation to begin therapy immediately.
5. Do you offer speech therapy and child psychology services in Pune?
Yes. We provide speech and language therapy for articulation, communication delays, and language comprehension challenges. Our child psychologist conducts developmental and behavioural assessments for concerns related to attention, emotional regulation, learning, and social interaction. Services are coordinated within the centre for continuity of care.
6. How often are therapy sessions required?
Frequency depends on the child’s developmental needs and condition. Some children benefit from weekly sessions. Others may require structured short-term intervention plans or guided home programmes. Recommendations are individualised after assessment.
7. How is progress measured?
Progress is tracked using:
- Defined functional goals
- Periodic reassessment
- Parent feedback
- Observable developmental improvements
Therapy plans are adjusted based on progress and response.
8. Will my child be labelled or diagnosed immediately?
Not necessarily. Our approach prioritizes careful evaluation over premature labelling. In some cases, monitoring is recommended before a diagnosis is considered. In others, structured therapy may begin based on functional needs. Clarity precedes conclusions.
9. What age groups do you work with?
We work with infants, toddlers, preschool children, and school-age children requiring developmental assessment or therapy support. Early intervention is beneficial, but structured guidance is valuable at any stage.
